DE-STASH SALE

Saturday 18th Feb // 11am-4pm

We Have some exciting news to share with you!! Our very first event of the year is coming up on Saturday 18th February, 11am - 4pm on site at the DAS Project Space.

As creatives, we often have to invest in bulk materials, upgrade our tools and refresh displays. Throw in some light hoarding and boom, you have a surplus of stuff. So we thought a de-stash sale would be a great way of diverting some perfectly good items from going to waste!

This is something new that a few of us have wanted to do for a while now, and we’d love to see you there.

Fernweh UK New Collection Launch Exhibition

Dachaidh: From Coast To Cairngorms
Fernweh UK New Collection Launch Exhibition

Launch Evening Thursday 14th April 6pm-8pm

Friday 15th – Sunday 17th April – 10am-4pm,
DAS Project Space, Deemouth Artist Studios

The new collection launch by Fernweh UK, the "Dachaidh" collection is inspired by the landscape we are surrounded by in Aberdeenshire. Dachiadh translating to "home" in Scots Gaelic.

We are two years into a global pandemic, which has completely re-evaluated the way we think about travel and the outdoors. Throughout lockdown, we've spent more time in areas close to home and really exploring these places and their connection to us. In Aberdeen, we are incredibly lucky to have such a diverse range of wilderness just on our doorstep, and Dachaidh is an exploration of just that.

A journey from the iconic sand dunes of the Forvie Nature Reserve to the dramatic, craggy cliffs of Cove overlooking the North Sea, to the majesty of the awe inspiring Lochnagar in the Cairngorms. Dachaidh is a collection of handcrafted bags and accessories that reflect the ever-changing landscape in the North East of Scotland.

Using design and textiles as a tool to tell a visual story, and reflect my outdoor inspirations is a key part of my making practice, and I am incredibly excited to launch my latest collection in an exhibition style setting, reframing the boundary between art and design.

My new collection will feature new designs and colour palettes inspired by the local landscapes, in my signature fabrics of rugged Scottish waxed canvas and oak bark tanned leather, including some one-of-a-kind pieces. I look forward to welcoming you all to the launch evening on April 14th, and from Friday 15th – Sunday 17thApril.

Sea Sky Soul by Di Bumpus

I am looking forward to putting up recent paintings in the DAS project space. All will be welcome to come and see “Sea Sky Soul” which will be open Fri 18, Sat 19 and Sun 20 March. Inspired by elements fo the natural world around me, my work continues to celebrate these and our essential relationship with them. I have returned much to beaches at Forvie NNR over recent years to see and sketch the layers, distance, colours, texture and movement. Paintings explore these elements directly and how they combine to create space, and also most recently return directly to waves, shorelines and horizons, their space and movement. It is great to have the opportunity to invite you to come and visit our brilliant project space to see some of the work going on here at DAS. For me the chance to see work hanging always helps evaluating and taking themes forward, and so helps me develop my work as well as share it. I look forward to welcoming all.

Opening Times:

Friday 18th March 10am - 2pm
Saturday 19th March 11am - 5pm
Sunday 20th March 11am - 5pm

Facetime: Portraits from Lockdown

As series of portraits by Rowan Flint of friends and family painted over lockdown.

Using FaceTime and social media platforms became the primary way to stay connected over the last few years. As a way of coping with some of those feelings of isolation, I began to make sketches of my friends and family - to capture something of their experiences day to day in a visual diary of sorts.

The Face Time project grew as I put out a call on Instagram for participants and connected with a huge array of folk. I started painting every day, from images captured during our digital conversations and from pictures my sitters provided of moments where they felt most themselves.

Face Time is a snapshot of the portrait works produced over the last few years; a compilation of fully realised and quickly sketched works. What started as a coping mechanism in Glasgow evolved in to momentum to change my situation, move back up north, connect on a new level with friends and family and fall in love with painting again.

I thank every one of the sitters for trusting me with their likeness and insight into their inner world. Thank you, also, to Deemouth Artist Studios for providing space and support to create and show these pieces.

Welcome to Face Time, I look forward to you joining the chat!

Opening Times:

Friday 4th March 6-9pm
5th - 10th March 12-3pm & 4-7pm
